I moved to Bradley Stoke in 1990 after 2 years working in Canada as scientific project manager for British Aerospace Security Systems. Since that time i run my own business focusing on adding multimedia and IT content to training programmes in Health & Safety, Environmental
Management, ICT and Business Studies. I am a part-time, Key Skills lecturer at City of Bristol College and a Learndirect online tutor.
I joined the Governors in 2006 as the Bradley Stoke Town Council representative and have continued as community representative. I am chair of
the Health & Safety and Premises and a member of the Curriculum and Standards committees of governors. I am also have specific responsibilities
for science and H&S.
Outside of my work and governor commitments I am often seen walking my Great Dane dogs around the Bowsland area. I manage the website for
daneline.co.uk great Dane rescue organisation.

Until Decemeber 2000 I was a Special Needs teacher in secondary schools in Bristol. I have been a SENCO and sat on Senior Management Teams
in two schools. Following my early “retirement” from teaching I spent two separate times working for the LEA in the SEN section where I learnt to
see it from the other side!
In 2001 I became a governor at a primary school in Southmead with responsibility for SEN. I eventually became Chair. I joined Bowsland Green in
September 2006 and again linked myself with the SEN part of the school. I have had training in SEN governance, exclusions, recruitment and being
a Chair of Governors as well as the initial training for new governors.
Out of school I am involved with hockey serving on the West Hockey Association Council and Umpiring Committee as well as the local committees.
I am a regional coach of umpires and a qualified Technical Delegate for national tournaments. Most recently I have learnt to play bridge and if I have
a spare moment I act as secretary to a Charitable Foundation!

I was born in Zimbabwe and lived in Malawi and Zambia where I went to school until I was eighteen. I then spent a year in Neuchatel, Switzerland
before going to the University of Hull where I read Anthropology. After this I was seconded by Devon LEA to Bristol to study for a postgraduate
Diploma in Careers Guidance. After working in North Devon as a Careers Officer I married Glyn, now a Professor of History and worked for Avon
LEA as a Careers Officer in South Bristol. I subsequently trained as a Nursery and Early Years teacher after the birth of my daughter and worked
in Primary schools until 2002 when I left to complete an MSc in Information Technology. I am presently working for the School of History at the
University of the West of England in conjunction with Victoria County History as their web manager after receiving lottery funding for England’s Past
for Everyone. I also work in the Education Faculty on the Early Years Professional Status qualification. My particular specialism is the use of online
learning in education, particularly the use of interactive software such as Blackboard which is being used extensively in Higher Education.

I came to Bradley Stoke in 1991 and lived there for 11 years, during which time I witnessed the building
and development of Bowsland Green Primary School. Both of my children attended the school and have
moved on to be successful learners at High School as a result. Starting out as a parent helper in school,
I quickly realised my vision to become a teacher, retraining for 5 years after 13 years in Sales. I have
taught in KS1 and KS2 and am currently teaching Year 6, which is a wonderful and challenging experience.
I have served on the PTA and have been a teacher governor for 4 years. I enjoy my role as a governor
because it gives me the opportunity to support the school and make a difference by using my skills to work
as a team with others to make sure Bowsland Green remains successful for future learners in our community.
